1991 (+) 124 being offered for sale "rare limited edition" with a "blackwood handle". Micarta being mistaken for wood? Buck did do a white Micarta about that same time period. Were there ever any black dymondwood editions? Or is it just possibly a paint job. Pictures are not good enough to tell, doesn't really look to be a custom. Could not find any limited edtion projects with a blackwood handle.

Looks like it's been rescaled to me. Pommel/butt is too flat. Rivets and finger grooves don't look quite right either. More rounded overall then what I think a + should look like but I've been wrong before. Also the blade doesn't look "unused" to my eye.

Roger, yes, buck made such a knife.
I am not at home, so I can't have a look at the box or into the papers. But, if you like have a look at the pictures.

Wow, good job Habbie. I looked at mine and the one I have in that era is a 94\ . Which is called birch, a red laminate. DM

Rog, I don't know about the limited edition part but he can probably tell the difference between wood and micarta as he is a 124 collector. Hopefully...

Thanks for the responses. Looks like Haebbie may have it. Haebbie's looks to be a little more brownish to me but then I'm color challenged. The knife catches my eye because it is a handle I've never seen. I've purchased several 124's from this seller in the past and have been pleased. Just too difficult to evaluate this one from pictures and the blade shows signs of light use.

Haebbie, when you land home I'd like to know the box info if you have it.

Yes, the wood looks a bit brownish, but the picture beguiles. The other two handles are a bit blueish.

I'm sorry, I forgot to have a look at box n' papers last night. Will try it again today.
When? It depends on the time zone you live in ;) :)

Berlin is GMT +1 and St Louis is a -6. We both observe daylight savings so that puts me 7 hours behind.

Beguiles... ?? You mock us with your grade school English... :)

Oh no! I am so sorry, DSS. Excuse my awful school English please. :(
What word would you write in this sentence?

1 o'clock PM. Is that ok?

Beguiles is a great word. It means to charm in a deceptive way, or to seduce (among other meanings). So, in this context it is a perfectly wonderful word. I think DSS meant you were using better English than he was (a backhanded complement).

A bit earlier but bad news. My charcoal 124 don't has a box. I changed it with a special micarta. May be another member of the forum can help out.

Thank you, Doc, that's good to read. I always fight with my English and hope it is always understandable what I wrote. Just now I take English lessions to improve my skills heading for the BCCI anniversary meeting I plan to attend.

Ha Ha.... Yes!
Herbert, you've mastered the grammer but understanding humor can be fraught with subtlety...

Well, Yes, the subtle humor went lost on the long way over the big pond.
