I dug out a Buck 124 from the back of my safe that I acquired as part of a motorcycle sale years ago... I looked around the internet and noticed they are no longer made...My question is could someone give me a ballpark guesstimate to what this knife may be worth in good conditon with the original sheath...It has black handles and says Buck 124 U.S.A.

thanks to all

welllll black handles and no date mark
used = i jest bought one for 60 on the 'bay at a flee market 30 to 80
have seen them used go to 100 on the bay
new in box with papers up to 180...

IF it has a hole in handle end and striations on bottom of blade it is scearce and can go to 250
see also Nemo dive knife
twin to 124 and if it had a rubber sheath (they put the above 124 in it) they called it nemo same knife in fact predesser to the 122 nemo...

how about cocobolo handle? also has a back slash ater the 124/ no year i have no clue when the knife was manufactured anyone?

The / is the year stamp. 1993 is the model year of your knife.
Buck uses all different symbols and stamps for certain time periods or year(s)

I don't know much about Buck fixed blades, and what I have learned about the Hunter is only a few months of knowledge learned here.

But, IF the 124 is a full tang knife, then I would say the whole knife is "new" and not just the "blade". ? ?

The "/" is a '93 as Jim said.

Poist a pic AnvilHead...I'd like to see that beauty :)

Here is a link (this should be a sticky) that has date stamps. Scroll down to see 'em.

thanks everyone , 1993 would have been the year the knife was repaired, i was 21 yrs old, the knife is actually older. i was a younger teen when i recieved the knife and the tragedy of the broken blade just hit home.... but i will say , this knife made me a Buck fan. I sent the knife to Buck with a letter telling how I broke the blade doing something stupid with it. For sentimental reasons I needed that fixed no matter what the cost.

Eight to twelve weeks later I got the knife back good as new with a letter from Buck apoligizing for the delay but they had to forge a new blade as that model wasnt made anymore. free of charge

PICS!!!!!

"forge a new blade" -  (forged?????)
If a model is discontinued they will substitute an equal model? Do you still have the letter...

If it was replaced in 1993 it will have the 1993 stamp. Without the original blade it is hard to tell how old it is. :D

...I got...a letter from Buck apoligizing for the delay but they had to forge a new blade...

That's probably the holdup with my 110 blade upgrade - they need to make a new blade...and they're teaching "Amber" how to fire the forge...lol... :D  :p
