Buck 124?

124 "Frontiersman" knives are Buck's long-running standard production Bowie, first introduced in the late '60s (I believe 1967). They are well proportioned and have been produced in many variations. You can buy them standard issue or from the custom shop today. That one is from the 1972-1986 production period and looks to be in great shape.

They are one of the more expensive ones, for sure, of that style of knife from buck. I would have one if the price came down or the used ones were further away from new price. Lots to like about it, but usually it's batting in a league where I end up going for something different in FFG.

Monofletch Monofletch your friends Buck 124 looks like an older model, I can see the old edge grind that makes it a 440C blade. I have a Frontiersman 420HC and a 425MOD, the 440C knives (like your friends) and the 425MOD knives like the one below with the reddish handle, have a more ergonomic grip in my opinion. The slabs are more rounded and fit my hand more comfortably. Hard to see in a photo, but easy to feel in hand.
