Hello All,

I noticed the BUCK 137 Steelmaster's are going for a nice penny on the major auction site. How valuable are these ?? I have 3 of them in sheath, but never used any of them. I bought them years ago because they looked cool and were well made.

Does anyone have any tips on dating them to show the value ?
Any tips on how to use one properly ???

Thanks In Advance,

The best indicator is to have a look at the auctions.
That gives you the best benchmark for the value of anything that is
offered more than one time.

I have one new in the box, although the box is a bit weathered. I bought one of these awhile back from a forum member and haven't used it, primarily because I have no idea how it is supposed to work.

Extend it out of the handle and lock it down with the flipper then start whetting. A consistent angle is the key. They have a coarse and smooth side--they're both fine. Its for field touch ups, to maintain your edge not so much for putting the original edge on your knife. For that use bench stones of good quality at home. Some of the model 137's have a wedge at one end that can be used to split the breast bone or pelvis of a deer by using a wooden mallet. I believe that model came out in the mid 70's perhaps as early as 73. I can remember using one in 75. Good luck, DM
