440C (heat treated to BOS specs?), framelock. Mayo design. Is this as good a deal as it seems for thirty bucks?

Could someone who's used this knife give an assessment?

Thanks!

Jim

Someone else on the forum got one and says it's a great knife for 30 bucks.

440C, framelock, Buck, Mayo, 30 bucks... Sounds like a good deal to me. I wish I had the money to go grab one right now.

I had high hopes too...But...
Mine came with warped washers, so the blade would literally grind into the liners when closing/opening. It also had more than a few machining marks. Was nice and sharp though. I returned it to NGK.

They are a beautiful design. They are well made in terms of the grinding and fitting of parts.

The heat treat (on mine) sucked. The entire edge would fold over during very light duty slicing (with the factory edge profile). Reprofiling to a significantly thicker, blunter edge helped, but now it's not a very useful cutting tool. Just a tiny bit more attention the heat treatment and it would have been a solid winner.
