Hello, I thought i would have better luck asking here than anywhere else. I recently acquired this knife and after some research (Google) this knife really looks like other prototypes I have seen for the Buck 180 Crosslock. Unfortunately the only marking on this is CP 16. I was hoping that someone on here would know for sure. Thanks for all your help!

J Jinz0 Interesting prototype CrossLock. Thank you for sharing it.
There was a prototype CrossLock on eBay years ago. It was framed in a display case.
I would have liked to have it but the price was a bit steep.

Through my research I found a thread on Bladeforums where Kit Carson said he personally made about 70 prototypes of the Crosslock for Buck. There must have bee a lot of variations that never made it to production.

Nice Score JinzO on your prototype crosslock.

Here are a few other prototypes along with some limited edition versions.

Sweet collection gedlicks gedlicks . Not many of those damascus making it pretty much unobtanium.
I have a pretty large collection of most all of the standard CrossLocks but not much in the way of the limited ones.
Would you discuss the one on the top L?

Thanks Roger - The one on the top left is a prototype with a bit driver and mastodon ivory scales. Came from an ex-employee. The damascus one was my 1st crosslock and had no idea of it's
rarity at the time. Came in a large collection of 143 Buck Knives I purchased from a retired Buck Employee for really cheap although didn't think it was cheap at the time. Boy those were the days.

Prototype and Samples are my absolute favorite to collect. I heard that 16-18 Damascus Crosslocks were made. It's the kind of Buck that really doesn't have a 'base' price or value. It really all depends on what the buyer will pay.
