I was in an antique shop today and found a buck liner lock knife , I think you guys call the buck in this model the cross lock? not sure. Anyway when I was younger maybe 10 years ago or so my father in law gave me one of these and I loved it but, lost it. Im not a huge buck collector but was always very fond of this knife. Anyway I found 3 of these. 2 all black ones. One with 2 blades(gut hook) and the other with 1, $50 , and $30. then A black one with a green rubber insert for $20 pretty beat up with a loose blade. bought the $30 one. It appears to have a drop point and I thought the one I had was more of a clip style of blade is that possible? Either way was this model made for very long, and any one know the steel? Wouldnt mind picking up another one but they seem a little pricy on fle bay.- Joel

Joel,
The Crosslock was introduced in 1994 although the first Buck catalog it appears in is from 1995. It was named The Blade Magazine Knife of the Year in 1994.
2003 is the last catalog showing the Crosslock. It was never offered with a clip point blade but you can find versions with a sheepsfoot blade and a tanto point.
Hope this helps.

Thanks joe I appreciate it. Tell ya what Ive had it In my pocket for a couple of days now and it feels great again!!!! They are a heavy duty knife in my opnion, I really liked my first one and wasnt really looking for one but now I have one again I think it will be in my pocket for a while, before I rotate something else in.- Joel

The 180 is one of my favorite knives. I carried one daily from 1995 til last year. The steel is 420HC. It sharpens easily and holds its edge fairly well.
