I was able to pick up a nice used Buck 184 for myself for Christmas. It is complete with the pins that screw into the guard and the Silva compass in the pouch. It also has a second larger accessory pounch.

It has quite a bit if gunk and dirt on it. I gave it a good scrubbing with CLP and a toothbrush and it cleaned up pretty well. There are just a few scuffs here and there from use. I also lubed the o-ring and threads in the handle.

I bought it from an online pawn shop that showed up on a Google search for 13.99! I have wanted one of these since I was a kid but the prices always drove me away... so when I saw this listed with a lousy picture and a vague description for 13.99, I decided to risk it. I figured it was either going to be in terrible shape, incomplete, or a cheap imitation. As it turns out is is definitly used but it is complete and it's the real deal. I'm thrilled with it.

I also received a nice Buck 110 from my lovvel wife for Christmas to replace the one I lost a while back.

Thanks for listening,
Matt

Matt,

It's always nice when good things happen when you take a chance...glad it worked out for you...whatta deal, should read steal. Don't lose it and if you do...make it where I could find it;). Preston

Thanks pjsjr.

I'll try not to lose this one, actually I am pretty sure that my 110 "grew legs" if you know what I mean.

I did a little research and it appears I may have a bit of a transitional 184. It has the BUCK 184 U.S.A. stamp, but it has the pouch compass instead of the handle compass. So I guess this one dates somewhere around late '84 to early '85. For those who don't know there is a great informational site about these knives at Buck-184.com. Many thanks to whoever put that site together.

Thanks again,
Matt
