Latest pawn shop find was a Buck 285 for about half what they normally go for. Purple woodland handles. I passed it up because the blade seemed kinda stiff on opening. But now I'm wondering if I made the right decision, because the handle was pretty comfortable to hold.

Is there any reason to pass up on the 285, and look for a different model?

I've got three 285's including the purple camo one. They are hard to beat for the ~$20 pricetag so a user for half that would be a steal.

Here is the lavender/purple headhunterz:

And the mossy oak blaze pink:

I'd like a Desert Chris shaving with a 285 version of the 285. Yes I would! the cool graphics amaze me and I wonder it it is possible/feasible...

I would've snapped it up. I picked up an American Flag 285 for $10 off craigslist last week:

Is it a high quality knife? I would say not-it's definitely not even comparable to a 110, but for less than $20 how much knife do you expect? They are good user knives. I have carried a China made 285 for about 15 years for work: opening boxes, cutting cardboard, picking chew out of my teeth and etc. It works well and feels good in the hand. I am so used to it that every knife I get now is compared to how that old Buck feels in my hand.

Haha! Steve, I do not have a 285..... but it is one of the few Buck Models to be found in stores around here. Maybe i will have to obtain one ;)
Oh.... and I would most definately buy a DesertChris shaving with a 285 model 285.....lol

If it can be printed, it can be transfered.

That is more than likely how the camo/flag/headhunter/copperhead/reaper versions of the Bantam are produced.

I can point you to a place in Michigan that can probably do the Desert Chris version if yo supply the photo and knife;) .
