Buck 3 Stage Sharpener/Spyderco Sharpmaker

Hi.
A knife collecting friend of mine once gave me a sharpening stone which allowed me to achieve a deadly edge with little effort. I think it was made of silicone carbide but that is irrelevant because it was destroyed in action recently. I want a sharpening stone/system which will allow me to achieve a very, very razor sharp edge. Will the Buck 3 Stage Sharpener do the job or should I go for the Spyderco Sharpmaker. (I'm kind of on a budget so please don't suggest anything too extravagant)

The Smith's Abrasives tri hone is the same exact thing as the Buck 3 stage, but is 1/3 the cost (they make it for Buck, compare the pictures and everything).

Either will put a razor edge on the blade. The tri-hone setup will require better patience and skill free handing it.
