Looking for some input on this blade, Not sure how rare it may be, if at all. Since I live pretty close to Camillus NY, it is not unusual to find Camillus knives in pawn shops, at flea markets and at gun shows. I picked this one up recently and am trying to narrow down it's production date (70's or 80's?) and get a sense of it's value. I have spoken to some who say that because it is well known that in the early days, Camillus was producing Buck 301's, that this was left over and Camillus simply removed the buck tang stamp, and branded / badged it Camillus.

Any input appreciated!

It could be a rebranded Buck blade, then again, maybe not.
Camillus did make their own Stockman using "Camillus" branded blades, with the same frame that the contract Buck 301 knife used.

The nail nick looks a bit thinner than what the Buck blade had, but that might be due to the camera angle and lighting.

good idea, I did not know that was in there, perhaps a mod can move this thread for me???

Cam' pretty much sold the same ones they made for Buck with their own name on them at the same time, so I doubt anything was removed or replaced.

Here's a Buck 307 "Wrangler" (bottom) with the exact same knife, just with their Camillus shield.

A local pawn shop had a Slim Line Trapper marked Camillus that is a Buck 311 clone. Don't know if it is still there.

Cosmo....

As fish hunter mentioned Camillus used this identical frame for there own production as well as Buck, Remington and anyone else who would request.....
Value wise keep your search up ....check the big auction site which will give you an idea

The quest for a 307 'date' on that knife may be difficult, if its a 301 clone it would be easier to date. Those Cami's were not date stamped and you have to look at the way it was made. The tang has been ground and Camillus "printed" in the grinding with a Camillus shield glued in the scale just like a Buck. Just as Remington versions are. Since the truth will be tough to find lets speculate and say it is a Camillus made Buck 307 (because of squared bolsters) with Buck tang stamp ground off and Camillus printed on the tang and a Cami shield. Could happen. These were made from the late 70's to the 90's . If it was a 70's/80's Buck 307 there should have been 307 stamped on reverse of clip blade, " is that spot ground off also" and it would have a brass spring rivet. Both the OP's knife and JD's knife have steel spring rivets which would suggest a more modern production with no model number stamped on back because it is a Camillus knife and made after they quit doing that to the Buck models. Exact dates hard to determine on these models you only get a range of years. Unless you measure its length and prove me incorrect, I am going to say its a Cami 301 sized knife from late 90's or after...As they said back in those days "Love the one your with." 300

Here's a 301 sized Remington treatment.

Most Camillus made Craftsman Stockmen have straight bolsters. 300

Here's a page a forum search should have turned up except for PhotoBucket attack. I did slide show at the SMKWs BCCI meeting.

Buck folks, I know you have heard my 307 stuff before but am waiting to hear from OP on moving thread. I don't know how to save it here and copy it to Camillus forum. Will see what OP wants and will contact super mod to see if it can be done, leaving it here and copying to Camillus.....300
