So I was doing a little online browsing and found a nice looking Buck 301 with brass bolsters, US made. I have a plain jane 301 from 2002, and it looks to me like the spey blade is different. Mine looks a bit smaller, and has a very blunt, thick tip. The newer ones look wider, from spine to edge, and look a little better to me. Am I just imagining this? Does anyone know when or if this spey blade was changed? Or is it just peculiar to the non-black zytel knives?

It's not a big deal, but I figured if anyone would know this would be the place to find out.

Knarfeng, thanks for moving this. I put it in traditionals because of the pattern, but this is a much better spot.

DesertChris, that's it exactly. I saw it on a vendor's site, and it said made in USA. Now that I'm looking at it on a computer instead of a phone I can see the U.S.A. stamp.

The Spey does look different, like the current ones have a better point/tip.

Thanks guys!

Yes to Hiker, Matt you have been spending too much time in Lucite land....but we forgive you.........300

I agree I think the spey is being ground a little different, maybe our discussions on our desire to have it more pin blade shaped have been heard ? Someone showed one the other day they ground on just a little and it was almost a pin.

I like the looks of these. I'm going to get one, but maybe a Cadet this time around. Seems like a handy little size, and it's not like my current 301 is in bad shape. Heck, I've only had it ten years or so.

WOW, your right. I've fallen off my game.

Wow is right Matt,

I was right there with you. The last brass Buck 300's I remember were the China made wally tin one's. I see that Buck made the full 300 USA line last year. Nice to be learning something new here lol.

Not to be a shin kicker, but I am pretty sure I did a post here when they first offered them, I think that is where that picture came from........I guess I am just being taken for granted....ha
