Recently I found a post by 300Bucks on another forum and I can't find the post again
He did a great job answering a question w/ information and photos of course
300Bucks was explaining two items that interested me and wanted to read again

1. What was the approx time line when the double liner was added to increase the
spacing for the sheepfoot and spey blades to fit on their side of the knife?

I have an older 301 with single brass liners
Also an older 303 ( gifted by a generous member) that has the double liner on one side

2. Model number placement? Time line question again
When was the model number placed stamped under the name BUCK?

Mine 301 has
BUCK
301
U.S.A.

This is for anyone to answer
Thanks in advance

Ray

You can find Buck stockman knives with (and without depending on if a "run" of knives needed it) the extra brass liner, anywhere from 1971-1985, during the Camillus contract years mostly, although I won't say they were never used during the Buck years after 1985, but I don't recall seeing one that has it.

The tangstamp of yours is from roughly the 1974-1985 era.

So, if I have an older two-spring, flat-ground 301, say, like this one:

. . . that would be one of the Camillus contract pieces?

Interesting.

I also have a Muskrat of approximately the same vintage (and one of my instant favorites), also flat ground . . . also a Camillus piece?

More interesting.

Learn something new every day.

Yes indeed, it's a 313.

And I could surely go for a run of US-made Muskrats.

Maybe something in a nice buffalo horn.

Go ahead. Try me. See if I don't buy more than my share.
