This question is about a model 301 with grooved bolsters that I believe was made by Schrade about 1966. The marking is "BUCK made in USA" on the clip master blade.

It's in very good condition with some light sharpening and honing, but no damaging grinding or file work.

Any idea what this knife might be worth?

Thanks - -Richard

Richard,
Schrade made the 301 and 303 for Buck way back when. The reason we went to Camillus instead was because Schrade knives were made in a way that prevented repair. You couldn't just pop out a broken blade and replace it with a new one. Due to this fact, there are not a whole lot of them "out there" that are in very good condition. I would think that if you had one that was NIB, it should sell for about $100. One in the condition you described might go for $50 or $60.
Maybe Larry Oden will see this thread and offer his opinion too.
I hope this helps,

In my opinion, Joe is right on the money. Be watching for the new Blade Guide to Knives in about a year. It will replace the LeVine's Guide 5th edition and will have a lot of updating on the Buck Knives sections. I know this because Joe Houser and I have been writing the updates. It remains to be seen how much room will be allocated for Buck, but Joe and I have turned in articles that cover the 110, 112, 300 series, 500 series, 700 series, early pre-factory production knives and factory production fixed blades.
Regards,
Larry Oden
