After Reading the thread [thread=493367]305 Lancer by Scott Hartman[/thread], I started looking at the buck thats been in my pocket for the last 7 years.

First model will be from 68 - 71, have three brass spacers, no model #, handle pins, long pull, made by Cami.
The above Quote is about the 305 but I'll assume its the same for the 303.

So my questions are,
Dose anyone have any more information or Resorces?
Is this knife worth anything?
Would it be worth sending this out to get a loose blade fixed or put it up and get a newer 303?

Edited for new pictures my server is acting up

If you've been carrying and using it for 7 years, collector wise the value probably won't be high, if you have sentimental attachment to it, check before you send it in if they will actually repair an older Camillus contract knife or just send you a new one, if you want to keep that one.

The 303 has a slightly older history. The first ones came in 1966 and were made by Schrade. 68 is the first year for Camillus 303s. Schrade never made a 305. That was introduced by Cami. If your knife is only 7 years old it was made by Buck. 303 production went in house in 1986, the year the date symbol was adopted.

So would it be safe to assume thats its a Schrade?

The one in those pictures is not a Schrade, it's an early Camillus.

EDIT:looked at some reference books, and not totally sure......EXPERTS??
EDIT AGAIN:Actually am leaning towards Schrade now, it looks more curved than a Cam'.

I believe the 301 pictured by EndlessEvo is a Schrade-made Buck. The following picture is what I believe is a 1967 303 Schrade-made Buck. There are no rivets visible in the bolsters, Delrin handle has 3 pins, all 3 blades are marked Buck(main-Buck,Made In,USA,& both secondary blades,Buck-only on the reverse sides), and there are no numbers stamped to indicate the model number. I bought it MIB with papers.

Just got on the forum, give me 10 minutes I think I still have the picture of all the 303's in order of production. I thought I had that on a thread in past but wil go to the ole hard drive and dig it out...

OK, Here is lineup by age, top to bottom, of 303's. Top left two are Schrade, 1st model scale rivets with only master blade tang stamped, no other marking. 2nd model, scale rivets with secondary blades all stamped BUCK. Then you go into Camillus models, till Buck takes over marked either with BUCK on scale shield or date marked < after 303 and small nail nic. Sic'em Will , your on this one , I've got your back. :D

So I'm safe in saying its a 1st model Schrade?
Also

I can take more pictures in needed.

I think Joe would confirm that it is almost impossible to tighten a blade on a Schrade. The reason that Buck stopped using Schrade to make their pocket knives was the method Schrade used to construct their knives. Schrade used a method called key hole construction. This is evidenced by the lack of axel pins through the bolsters. Buck couldn’t continue with Schrade because of the Buck warranty that we all love so well. The only way to fix a problem with a Schrade is to completely disassemble it and then it is hard to reassemble. With a Cami, punch out the pin, replace the blade, and put back the pin, your good to go.

I bet if you sent your Schrade in for repairs you would not get it back again. You would get a replacement made recently by Buck. The warranty is still as good for the Schrade but they can’t fix’m.

More teamwork , here is a quick , handheld pic of a "keyhole" on the handle liner. Both of these photos are from a work in progress on the three example of 300series blade pins. Needs a little more polishing and better photos and I will bring it to forum. Good description by Will...... PS" No useable knives were injured in the making of this film"

This is a great thread and awesome pictures! I love the cut away of the Schrade knife.
Its all been said, we cant repair a Schrade made 300 series. Other than the loose blade, the knife looks to be in excellent shape. Usually the blades are all used up or flat out snapped off.
If you sent it in, it would be replaced with a current 303.
