Buck 303 Question

I have an older Buck 303 with red plastic handles that I picked up at a pawn shop a few years ago. I loaned it to someone and, long story short, the spay blade got broken off short. I've been wondering if it was possible to send it back to Buck to get a new blade put in (and how much that might cost). If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Hi FlyingMuskrat
I am pretty sure that Buck will fix this or replace the knife for you at no additional cost. Buck’s got a fabulous warranty.
What is stamped on the tang of the main blade? We can tell from that how old the knife is. 303s are still made so you may be in luck.

FM, Does it have smooth Red scales or sawcut. If date code is - (92) it should be sawcut.

(Someone correct me if I am wrong.)

1989 and 1990 Red models were smooth scale. Sawcut started in 1991 went to 1992. Then Red discontinued.
Symbols after the model number on tang 89 - V, 90 - X, 91 - +,
92 - - ( single dash).

It will be fixed with a "new" steel blade, unless you want to go to the trouble of finding another of the same era with a good blade but other conditions worthy to scrap. You will have to make special arrangements. You may can find another with less effort. But I like my own....300$s

If you send it in and want the Red Scaled version back, make sure it says so on the note you send in with it. I beleive they replace broken knives with what they have in stock unless you specify you want your original back. This happened to me several years ago with a Red Bone Usa made 301. They sent back the black handled one. I contacted Buck and they imediately fixed the issue.

Hi 300bucks. They are the sawcut handles. I guess I won't mind having one of the "new" steel blades, although I like the grind (full flat) on these old blades.
