I picked up a large stockman pattern Buck 307 a couple of weeks ago at a pawn shop. Looking around I find that is not a model that was made in as large of numbers as other slipjoint knives with Buck's name on it. What years was the 307 produced and if possible, was it subcontracted to Schrade or Camillus?

Is it possible to see a photograph of knife, especially the tang, front and back, of the main blade. This will provide a whole host of information for you.
Otherwise we will just have to give you the whole , but not too large, history run down. 300Bucks

BCCL or WTB may be able to give you the whole history business before I get to my home computer. But I will give you photos of the models then. So go to it teammates lets show the 110 boys how it's done......

The 307 Wrangler jumbo stockman was a Camillus contract knife, made from the 70's up into the 90's.

Good pictures of the knife, especially the tang and a top view showing the blades and liners can help narrow down yours better.

Below is a archive photo of ALL three Buck 307 factory models. In back is the oldest with BUCK, Made in USA on tang side showing and 307 on reverse, 71-74. In the middle is number 2 issue with BUCK,307,USA on tang, 74-85 and 87-98 and in front is the 85-87 issue, with BUCK scale shield, BUCK,307,USA on tang (but NO date codes). All Cami made.
No Schrade 307s. I have never seen a factory issue of any other versions other than these. If someone has one lets see a photo.

Never seen a 307 with the BUCK shield in it. Sure would like to find one of my own. Thanks for the photo.

I like the size of a 307. I've had one for years and used it on many things and the steel holds an edge well. Its sort of a mystery what steel they used on it. Not bad for a slip lock. DM

(Earlier post deleted and rewritten.)

I have always assumed (maybe heavy on the first word) that old Made In USAs were 440c but I have no proof at present......other than the way I think they sharpen..300Bucks

300, Joe H. and I emailed back and forth on this one some time back and he told me those contract knives didn't follow that pattern. The steel could even be Swedish sandivick. "But he's not sure". DM

After DMs post and a buddys private email trying to save my face. I deleted and changed my earlier post on 307 blade steel in a attempt to hold any creditability I have left, until the truth is known. 300Bucks
