Buck 310 or 309?

I recently bought a Buck 310 off of ebay.

They showed a nice picture of a 310, a small three blade knife with the 310 markings visable on the blade.

When the knife arrived, it was the three blade 310 style but the mainblade was marked 309.

I compared this knife with my 309s. My 309s are similar but have two blades.

What do you guys think is the deal with this mis-marked 310?

Porky:eek:

The 310 is a 309 with an extra blade. You have a knife that apparently had a 309 blade installed instead of one stamped 310. The two blades are actually the same except for the model number.

I too have a model 310 with a 309 blade. It came from Bass Pro in a wooden box
with a sliding lid.2004 date symbol

Buck is kinda "notorious" for little things like this, you see 560's with 110 blades in them alot, and I've even see 110's with blades stamped 560.

As David said, it is common for more recent issues of this model. In recent years this model has been exclusive to Bass Pro and all the ones I have seen have the 309 marked blade. I just checked on the Bass Pro website and the stock photo shows the 309 marking clearly. It's is a pretty good buy and comes in a nice wood box. Always kinda wondered if the production volume was so low it was not economical to replace the stamp tooling. The stock photo shows a 2010 date code so it has been happening for awhile as the OP is from 2006. I have older examples in my collection with the correct 310 blade.
