Was the Buck trapper 314 made in-house? I want a Buck trapper, but desire one made by Buck and not by some other company. The reason, I wish to use it and I believe the Buck made knives with 420HC BOS steel are very superior to other brand blades. I say this from years of testing.

Let me introduce myself. I have used Buck knives since the mid 1960s. I worked for three different knife companies (but not Buck) and have retired. I still sell Buck knives in antique malls. I buy these as a dealer from Blue Ridge Knives (a knife wholesaler).

For the last several years I have enjoyed reading this forum....not only for the expert opinions, but for the nice people here. Thank all of you kindly for your treatment in this forum.

Bryan,

The 314 Trapper was made by Buck. It was introduced in 1990 and last produced in 1998. It was never a contract knife.

Is it possible the the earliest 314's with a 1990 date code are 425m and not 420HC?

Pleased to meet you Bryan. Welcome to the Buck forum. Glad you could make it. I bet that you have some good war stories from your years of sales. All the best to you.
