Buck 315 "Sailor's Knive"

wro,
The 315 Yachtsman is discontinued but do show
up in clearance catalogs and at shows.
The knife was a contract knife made by
Camillus. The early ones had bolsters and
the later ones were bareheaded. Also, I
have seen some in white micarta but those
are rare. I would like to have one in the
white micarta, if anyone knows of one.

The Marlinspike is handy for a lot of things other than splicing line.I suppose there is a market saturation point.I like mine.

I bought a 315 in '79 onboard the USS Midway and still have it. It is beat to death and really needs to be reconditioned. I would love to find a replacement for it with the old style hammer/knife badge on the handle. I guess it would be impossible to find new old stock NIB.

Slickpuppy,
This is not at all impossible. I see them in
shows from time to time. Sometimes they are
not in a box, but are still just like new. Let me know if you would like me to get one
for you. They also are on eBay regularly.

Thanks for the tip. I would like to get one with the box and papers. That is how I like to buy my knives - with original packing. I have found with most everything I buy I keep the packaging. The last computer I sold with the original packaging fetched a good premium over a comparable model without. Only problem is storing all these darned boxes.

If you ever see one from a reputable dealer and think about it let me know and I can contact them.

slickpuppy,
a friend in Michigan said to try this store:
Guns Galore

Ask for Mike
also, I would be sure the knife has bolsters
if that is important to you
Good Luck!

Thanks Larry! I will give them a call tomorrow. The newer models with the new BUCK shield on the handle did not have bolsters I assume?

The newer models had smooth, rather than sawcut black composition handles, no bolsters and no shield. Same blade and marlin spike configuration, but do look much
different because of the above modifications.
