Hello, just pick up the Buck Vantage Select and so far I realy like it. It was between the Select or the Avid. Both with different steals.420hc or Sandvik 13C26.For twenty bucks I went with the 420hc.What do you think of Bucks 420hc? This is just a edc knife. Thanks

Its not the latest and greatest steel but its a VERY good user steel, it holds an adequate edge, is easy to maintain and Buck does it better than anybody else.

I like mine

I like mine too. I like Bucks 420HC. For EDC it is just fine. I like it because it sharpens up with just a few strokes on my DMT Aligner Deluxe Diamond set. I usually sharpen it up with the Fine and extra fine and takes just a couple minutes. Most of the time sharpening is spent on setting up the Aligner system. The edge hold well enough but just don't expect it to match 154CM or S30V. But for $20, Great performance!

Plus, it is a good steel to practice sharpening on.

I think Buck's 420HC makes a very good user steel. Buck gets their 420HC quite a bit harder than anyone else of whom I am aware. As a result, it holds an edge better than you would think it would if you just looked at the composition. It takes a very fine edge with minimal work.

I like it for EDC. Mind you, if I were going to be cutting cardboard all day, I'd likely find it wanting, but most of us don't do that with our EDC's, so the Buck 420HC works good.

$20 for a made in USA knife is a great deal.
