I picked up a Buck 345 yesterday at Dicks Sporting Goods, and am amazed at the quality of this flipper. Did they produce a premium model with a steel other than 420HC?

just to add to Bear claw, the upgrade steels also have upgraded handle material as well. 346 avid has charcoal dymondwood and the 347 pro has
G-10

as a side note I believe the 340 which is the smaller version of your 345 is going to have a s30v variant(cant remember what scales though) Chuck Buck was carrying one when I met him in the fall. It were kool:thumbup:

I'm going to gift this one, and pick up an S30V version. They look to be cheap online.

Thanks for the info.

One other question, just looking at the opening hole, is this a Tom Mayo design? I'm guessing if it was, his name would be all over it.

Love to hear the positive feedback on the Vantage. Originally we had 3 versions of the large size...420hc with plastic handles, Sandvik and the charcoal dymondwood and then S30V with G-10.

Not a mayo design.

I have been carrying the #347 (S30V version). Retired my Mayo for the time being.

This is the best vote of confidence I've seen :). I've ordered mine!

Thanks CJ!
