Got this 425 (I believe 2011) but it has wood scales and nickle silver bolsters, I can't find any other examples of a 425 with anything but the molded Valox handles (Minibuck) just wondering if anyone can provide any information on this? Thanks in advance!

It happens more often than you would think. Buck has made 12 different knife models using that same 1-7/8" blade and lock bar. 425, 505, 506, 507, 515, 524, 525, 526, 527, 529, 825, and 826. The blades for these knives are all the same and really only vary by the tang stamping and finish. The first 505 shipped in 1978 so that means a lot of years have passed for some mixing and matching to have occurred.

It might have seen a broken blade along the way and that's the one they had available to throw in there. I'm sure back then the person who owned it didn't care they were gonna use it.

Thanks guys for the information, it's a seriously sharp knife for a blade geometry good for cutting cardboard! Doesnt llok like it was every changed by the previous owner unless he did it with care not to leave any marks.

Would have been done by Buck, not a diy job by the owner.
Sweet little knife btw.
