Hi guys! I went to WalMart today and picked up a Buck 470 w/o sheath for twelve bucks. A good deal, I believe. (They had two without sheaths. Should I have bought the other one?)
Anyways, I did a search and found out this model is the Mentor. Mine has a black rubber handle and a silver blade. I was hoping it was stainless, but maybe it is coated? Could this be Buckcote?
On the left side of the blade it says:
BUCK
470 U
U.S.A.
Why is the "U" so wide? Could it be a sideways "c?"
I like it. Feels nice in the hand, and while the blade is a bit thin (compared to my Livesays, my Nighthawk, my Greco and my SRK), it isn't as thin as the Diamondback 3.25 I have. Is the 470 a full tang model?
Anything else you all can tell me about this knife? This thing's growing on me; I may have to go back and get the other one. It feels even better than my Nighthawk and is more secure in the hand than the little Diamondback!
Seems it would make a good kitchen cutlery type knife, too.
Thanks,
Karl
