Hi Everyone,

New to the Buck Forums.

I am considering the purchase of a Buck 482 with a Sandvik steel blade but it looks to good to be true. Anyone have experience with the 480 series? Like? Dislike?

I own a 112 that I never carry for two reasons, weight and the fact that it is a replacement for one that a punk stole from me back in the 1980's. I still get mad every time I use the thing. Because I like drop point blades, I figure the 482 is a decent compromise. Opinions?

You certainly can't go wrong for the price.
light weight and thin enough to fit in the pocket.
Good steel.
If you like the blade shape and the frame of the 112
you could always do a blade swap and have the best of both worlds.
Just my humble opinion.

Cat, A punk stole my Leatherman while at work 2 weeks ago. I confronted him and he denied it but he was the only one around... It will take me some time to get over it.
I don't own a 482 but I've seen several and gents rave about them here. People like the Sanvik steel. You may enjoy one. Try it and see. DM

I thought the 482 uses 420HC. If they have switched to 12C27 then I will have to buy one.

You are right. The regular version is 420 HC. However they made some for Cabela's in Sandvik 12C27. They came with a belt sheath and a pocket steel. No clip. Went to Cabela's website and they are discontinued but you can get them on eb*y. Just ordered mine this morning. Cost me less than $23 bucks. If I decide that it is not for me, I will keep you in mind.

BTW, With a name like Doc T, do you have a medical background?
