I'd like to direct this towards Joe or anyone else who might be "in the know"...
I have question on the shape of the blades on the 500 Dukes
from inception to the last production run. I just picked up what appears to be an absolutely pristine model 500 with script letters and the burgandy micarta scales. The bolsters are almost perfect as is the micarta. The blade appears full and totally unsharpened. The knife is solid as a rock and has mega-"walk & talk"...LOL...I also have a number of 500's that are a bit more current running from around 1990 to the last years production. My question is about the shape of the later years knives versus the earlier years. Is there quite a bit of difference between the early 500's blade shape compared to the newer ones? This older knife seems to have what appears to be a "softer" design to the shape...more similar to my early 110's and 112's...more hand shaping perhaps?? In any case...the question remains...Are the blade shapes different from early to later years on the 500 Duke?...Thanks for reading this "rambling" question fellas...I'll try to post some pictures when my daughter gets home for a comparison. Thanks again guys...errr...and gals...gotta be PC ya know...:D

Good question DarrylS,

Here is a pic of my 500's old to new issues. The oldest one is from 1981 to this years 500LE. Do you see the blade shape differance in this scan?

...You can indeed see some difference between the years on your knives jb...Thanks for putting up the pictures again. I just wonder how much "hand" work was done on the earliest versions of the 500 as far as the grind lines, profiles, hollow grind, etc. I know that on some of my earliest 110's and 112's you can almost see that the knife and the blade itself had some "hand" work done to it which lends itself to the beauty of those oldies...

jb4570, nice collection.

I really like the stag on that 4th one from the top!

Thanks TLC,

I like that one also, the scales are Elk and it was a limited run of 200 knives.
