I just got my 500 from ebay. This is the nices knife Buck has ever made! It's a complete mystery to me why it was not the best selling lockback. I have 2 of them, so I might put one to the buffing wheel and smooth the edges down to make it more like the most recent 110 handles.

What the heck is wrong with us? Why didn't we buy these when they were still in production?

How badly did they sell that they were dumped? Only just barely, or were they so unpopular that they didn't even come close?

Carl,
I'm with you on this one, the 500 is a great knife! I have a few of them myself and the size of the blade, and the way it fits my hand, makes it one of my favorites. Sure would be nice to see it come back.

Well gosh Joe, that would take someone in the company who may have some pull to say something!:D

hint, hint.

I think it could be because the 500 is just a bit to big for today's pocket and if you have to carry a belt knife, you may as well go to the 112. I like the 500 to! A good coverall pocket knife!

I love my model 500!

It was a present from my Pop and it has been all over the world with me while I was an Air Force crewchief.

Great knife!

I recently bought a 500 on eBay. Wonderful knife. I would buy one of each if Buck started making the 500 again--in various handle materials.

I don't know about that. With today's baggy pants with their huge pockets, you could carry one that giant Swiss Army knife that they have on display at Chesapeake Knife and Tool and no one would notice.
