Hi,
ANYONE know the how rare this knife is?? I have seen the 500 Stag but not a Finger Groove version. I also would like a more seasoned persons VALUE OF THIS KNIFE?? IT IS NIB and I will be making an offer for it based upon response. It is dated 1990, I think. PEACE,

Mike,
Joe is better equipped to answer your question on the number of these made. I will say that of the older 500 stag models (those with script style tang stamps), the fingergrooved models are MUCH more common than the standard models. I am not sure why this is true. Also, I use the term "more common" in a relative sense. All 500 series models in stag are in short supply. Yes, they can be found but they are certainly not plentiful.
Hope this helps and that Joe can add to the thread.

MB,
Here is what i found out.
The 500 stag in finger grooves was made from 1983 to 1987 and there were less than 2000 made with a MSRP of about $140.
The 500 stag without grooves was made from 1983 to present and less than 5000 have been made with a MSRP of about $130.
Not a whole lot out there relatively speaking.
Hope this helps,

THANKS LARRY & JOE!!!!
I got the 500FG Stag and it is beautifully done. The stag pattern is fantastic!! The tang stamp is with the fancy script B. CAN YOU NARROW DOWN YEAR OF PRODUCTION ANY CLOSER ???? By the way I got it NIB for $125 :D . I now have a new love affair!!! THE 500FG models, the hunt is on for more!! Peace,
