Hi Guys,

the knife with the mallards has the engraving on the right hand side. But the "falcon" is not engraved. What does it mean? is it an overrun or did Buck forget the engravings?

Many thanks for your answer.

Best,
Haebbie

my friend i am glad to finely see all five in your collection!
congrats as i know you have been looking for a long time to complete that set!
i wish i could help you with the data on them but i know nothing of them..
i am sure some one here will pop in with some information soon..

Dave, that's nice. I thought these five are the complete Duke scrimshawed birds series. But cheered too soon: As I learned there are two series. One is completed with the falcon, eagle, condor and owl. The other series has at least three, may be four knives. Missing is the loon and the wood ducks. If there is a fourth one I don't know which one it is. Is there anybody on the other side of the big pond who knows more?

Many thanks for any answer!

Best,
Haebbie

sadly i dont know much on any of the 500's at all...
while they are a nice knife and i have had some they dont do for me
what a 110 does..so i know next to nothing on them..:(

Hi Herbert,

The 98 set of 4 are all engraved "Limited Edition 1 0f 1000" on the blade.
Eagle, Snowy Owl, CA Condor, Peregrine Falcon (my Falcon has the engraved blade)

The 97 set of 3, 2000 sets were made. (no idea if these have engraveing or not)
Wood Duck, Loon, Mallard Duck

Looks like your Falcon must be an over run. Those are sweet 500's Herbert, I only have 3 of them to date and bought my first after seeing a photo of your first one;).

I collect the 500 series also, and those are impressive...............

It seems that nobody uses these nice looking knives. So the offered knives of these seres are mostly in a very good condition.

Yes, JB, the knives of the 97 set have an engraving 1 of 2000 on the other side.

Same to me: When I saw those knives the first time I wanted to have them. I am in the lucky situation that these knives were sold in Germany too. So I have a good chance to find them in a local auction. If you like I can have a look to find the knives you are missing in your collection.

Best,
Haebbie

P.S.: Impressive collection you have!

In my collection, all the waterfowl have serial numbers, my bald eagle says 1/1000 and the rest of the birds of prey do not have serial numbers or 1/1000. FYI.

Found one more 500 "scrimshaw" :)

now there is only one more missing. But which one?

Wood Duck, Loon, Mallard Duck?

I don't know which bird has which name.

Best,
Haebbie

I'll give you what it looks like to me,,, The top one is a Mallard, and the next one down is a Wood Duck.

Snotwad is correct Hab.
Mallard then Wood Duck. I've shot lots of both back in my serious duck hunting days.

Yes, Dave, many thanks for the pic's from me too. As JB said, now I know how the loon looks like. But it is the hardest to find the last one of a series. But I am confident to get one once upon a time.

Yep, that last one in any series is always a son-of-a-gun to locate!!
