I have noticed you can not buy the 501, 503 or 505 on the Buck site anymore, only from the CKS. Are they phasing these out like they did the 500?

I don't know if they have been discontinued as a standard production model.
All three are still shown as available in the Custom Shop.

I doubt it. They are probably just focusing on something else at the moment. There should be plenty on the market to buy.

Coincidentally, I spoke to a customer service rep about this just the other day (I actually mentioned this in another thread). The gentleman from customer service basically said that their plant was too small for production needs, so the area of the plant dedicated to producing the 500 series has been repurposed for other needs. He said they plan to go back to building the 500 series (including the 500) later this year. I was glad to hear this, as the 500 series are my favorites.

Thanks for the info. I was having trouble finding a 505 recently and noticed their site not having them on it, other than the CKS. Thanks. Glad to know they are not phasing them out.

500 is the Duke? I just got one as i hadwon a Squire ( 501 i think) in a truck rodeo competition many years back.
I love the Duke as its Ranger (112)size just thinner and lighter. Use it for dressy occasions when a sheath is do able.

I bought a 500 thinking that it would carry in my pocket more easily than a 112. In practice, I can't tell much difference, so I tend to carry the 112. To me it's the weight more than the size that I notice.
