I have a Buck 501 that's pretty old from my grandfather. It's in pretty good shape, its got some dents on the nickel silver bolsters, the blade is pretty short from sharpenings, but it's got a solid lockup and no rust. The problem is that I can't get the grit out of the opening. I've washed it in hot soapy water, lubricated, and tried to work it out with air compression but it's still there. Any suggestions?

Read from somewhere using WD-40 + air compression. Ever considered to have it refurbished through Buck?

I have an ultrasonic cleaner that cost me $2000......but if its that hard to get out then send back to the company is what I keep hearing.....buck has lifetime garuntee....they have a good service I hear they'll prolly make it new again.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the WD40 and air compression together, if that doesn't work, I might send it in.
