Buck Buck 501 Esquire. Can anyone date this for me?

Hi all,

I have been gifted a vintage Buck 501 Esquire.

It has on the blade, the stamp 501<

Would anyone be able to date it for me?

Would also very much like to know what steel this knife would have?

1986. Should be 425M stainless, basically 420HC with some moly and vanadium.
