Hey guys, I'm relatively new here, I've been lurking a lot and not posting very often.

This is a Buck 505 (knight I think), it was my first knife my dad gave me when I was 10. It's got pocket wear, one of the scales is VERY slightly loose, but its got a lot of life left as a small edc. I don't use it, don't like keeping things I don't use, and would get much more enjoyment from knowing someone else is using and appreciating it.

I've really enjoyed all the new knives and brands I've learned about here so hopefully this will help someone else do the same thing!

Ok so all I ask is that whoever gets this gives it to either a child or a friend as their first knife. Use it to introduce someone else to the world of useful high quality knives and tools!

Just post, say something about who you would give the knife to, and I'll pick a random number for the winning post.
Please only one post per member, and just use the honor system. If you say you've got somebody who you can gift it to then I'll take your word for it. I'll run the GAW through Friday the 7th.

Obligatory pic of the knife...

Thanks for a great forum guys!

Buck knives are great, in my opinion. I would like to enter if I am allowed to. For me, the knife will be given to young family member in high school. I would like to seehim use it in outdoor activities, just as I was taught to do by my own father.;)

I would like to enter. I would give the knife to my nephew, Atticus. He's too young for it at the moment but it would sit safely waiting for him. My brother-in-law has mentioned wanting to get him a knife but is reluctant to spend money on anything decent (to say he is a spend-thrift is putting it mildly). I think this would be the perfect knife for a youngin growing up near a swamp. So thank you for the chance, it's a beautiful gesture.

Are you sure you don't want to keep it?

I appreciate the thought...honestly it's got some less than desirable memories attached to it for me, and at this point it just sits in a drawer out of sight and unused. I'd prefer for somebody else to get some real joy and use from it.

Everybody else, yes that's great! Keep on posting, you guys got what I was going for with the gaw.

I'm in. I would give it to my daughter. A lot of times when I get a new knife, I'll put a knife away that I already have for my 10 year old son. I've kind of overlooked giving one to my 13 year old daughter. She was looking over one of my knives and she said that she wouldn't mind a knife too.

I'll be in. Most folk i know don't carry and could use a decent knife, most would prefer something small like this. I have a couple of niece's ~11 yrs old, would make a good Christmas gift for one of them (if my brother's wife allows it). The one I have in mind wants to bow-hunt like her dad once she's old enough. Until then, at least she'll be able to help him butcher the deer :D

I was reluctant until I heard your explanation--so, I'm in! It will go to 1 of 3 little ones... Thanks for the gaw

I missed this earlier, and would like an entry. I have a 10yr old, who is very precocious. He's my button pushing, brother provoking, creative little monster, and I love him dearly! He was just asking me when he gets to have his own knife. His two older brothers have both gotten their first knives, and one is actually on his 4th knife. (He has the bug, like me!). As they are both in Boy Scouts, and have their Totin' Chips and/or Whittlin' Chips, they have learned much about care and handling. I was able to teach each group of them and their Boy Scout peers as they earned their first knives.

My 3rd son most likely will not become a Boy Scout, due to his personality, likes and preferences. He will definitely have to work to earn the right to handle it. I've begun teaching him a few things, here and there, and he's eager to learn. This knife would reside in my possession for the most part, only making it into his hands when I have time to supervise him.

Anyway, I'd love to be able to hand this one over to him, giving him an additional lesson in generosity and community, with the discussion that would come out of this.

Thanks for the generous Give Away!

Ok guys post #13 Daniel Dorn is the winner!

Took a few tries on a random number generator, first 2 numbers it spit out were my posts....

Thanks guys, Daniel, I'm sending you a pm. Hope your son enjoys it, sounds like you're teaching him right.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to being able to hand it to my son. Your generosity is appreciated!

Congrats, Daniel! May your boy grow up an enthusiastic yet responsible knife nut
