Hello. I have purchased a Buck Knight, model 505cc (gold-etched blade, stag handles and Damascus bolsters)

The query is, on the included paperwork, Certificate of Authenticity it states "is one of 210"....and on the knife itself, one of 210.

However, on the reverse of the blade is scrolled "313/250"

My model is 313, which matches the paperwork....WHY 250????

Should it not be 313/210!!!!!

Any help?

I can answer part of your question. The 313 represents the club number of the original individual who placed the order for his/her club knife in 1998. It is my recollection, however, that only 210 were made that year so I do not know how the 250 got engraved on the serialization. Please understand that I am answering this off the top of my head without my documentation to support either the 210 or 250 number. I am confident that my response to the 313 portion is correct.
I am planning to check my club knife from 1998 this evening and see if it is engraved 402/210 (which should be correct) or 402/250. The gold etch with 210 on the mark side of the knife should be accurate. Obviously, my club number is 402.

OK, I have checked my 1998 club knife, the 505CC. It is serialized 402/210 and has 210 as the number made on the gold etch club banner. So, if you have one that shows 250, it is a puzzle. Perhaps some other club members will also check their 505CC and weigh in with what they find.

Hmmm....i think that it must be a mistake by the scroller (i'm guessing these serial numbers are hand scrolled)

For such a knife, that would be an unforgivable error.

As Larry suggested, if anyone has a similar model, could you have a looksee.

Thanks

Roefisher

Unforgiveable? This is not life or death in the balance, friends. The blade serialization can be sanded, polished and re-engraved if it is desired. Buck would do it at no charge.

No it's not life or death, just a mistake, and a very stupid one at that.

Coming on here with a reply, Larry, that is trying to belittle me is not exactly going to impress to casual viewer, either.

This is a forum, not an adoration society. Does anyone from Buck (i presume you have a link to them, Larry) read this forum...they are a long time suggesting what you have said, previous.

Definitely NOT happy, now.

Roefisher,
There was and is no attempt to belittle you. Even so, I offer a sincere apology. I probably should have just posted the old adage "to err is human, to forgive devine." We all make our share of mistakes and the good people at Buck Knives are no different than the rest of us. As has been repeatedly stated on this forum, Buck goes out of their way to make customers happy. If you want the serialization corrected, I am certain they will accomodate you.

Roefisher,
Buck can certainly make the correction for you and I do apologize for the inconvenience.
I would recommend that if it is something you want done, you should send it to us. I only ask that you wait until April as we are in the middle of a move right now and I can't say for sure where the engraving machine is at the momment. If you contact us again in April, we should have the new address set up by then. I hope you can bear with us for just a little while.
I would also like to say that knowing Larry as I do, he certainly did not mean any harm with his comment and I hope you will accept his apology.
Take care,

Thank you, both.

I'll get in touch via the Buck website after April to have it re etched.

It certaintly is a very attractive little knife and would be better with this work done

In relation to the above comments, the written word is one dimensional and can often be misinterpereted. If i may have caused any offence or ill-will, i also stand corrected.

Buck is a superb knife, and one with a long, strong reputation. I have 7 of them :)

regards

humm  .. have any of you given any thought to that with what the Buck Rep's are saying ... it is a mistake/error and there for a ONE OFF! and as such with the docutmation will be more valuable as such! esp if one of the Rep's would send a signed letter on Buck letter head to that effect... or am i off base here :footinmou ? feed back accepted...
