Hi,

I hope someone can clarify the following: if the series were made from the Buck 529, the skins of sharks, eels and lizard are real or simulated. Some sites say it is real, but today we see a pack that came in a blister with a wallet that is simulated. I am somewhat confused, I hope you can resolve this question. Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Maybe the Buck community would be more familiar with this.
Moving from General Knife ...

They are real!!

I can attest to the fact that the inlays act like a natural product. Over time, if not properly cared for they shrink away from the sides of the handle.
I looked and all I could find was an insert in the wallet which said it was made of genuine leather. It did not mention the strip of shark skin but then again, it read like a generic insert, meant to cover many diferent models.

Thank you very much for your responses.

I thought so, but when see the next picture, do not know what to think:

I usually see this model of Buck Knives in cardboard boxes, where it is putting real skin, but in this combo blister, said it was fake-simulated lizard skin.

Sorry for my english.

Regards.

Looks like it has most likely been repackaged, and, perhaps, mislabelled as well. Maybe the wallet is simulated?

Your English is way better than my ???????????????????.

It is a possibility, also puts in the wallet that is simulated.

Apart from skin of eel, shark and lizard, are there more animals?.

Regards.

I seem to recall that there were four, but I can't remember what the fourth one is at the moment.

Edit: Fourth is alligator!! And apparently, each came is several colors.

The BCCI Knife history shows the following 529 BuckSkin Models:

Black Shark
Red Shark
Natural/White Shark
White Eel
Burgundy Eel
Alligator
Peanut Brittle Lizard

The handle material is described as "Natural skin".

These knives were produced between 1988 and 1991 (Red shark only in 1989).
But the Knife/Wallet Combo from Ryunosuke was produced in 1987, more exact: the cardboard
from the blister was printed in 1987

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260457401248&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

But I couldn't find a 529 BukSkin that was produced in that time, only a 529 Cowhide
from 1988. Also I coudn't find the Combo in the Buck catalogs. Does anybody knows more?

Best,
Haebbie
