Does anyone EDC one? I bought one from here on the forum, and I hope it will take over as my EDC. Why were these nice looking knives DCed? They look to be a nice gentlemen's folder.

What other models are out there that were special runs of 532?

Thanks,
John

John, IMHO, the 532 is a great EDC, thin and light, with a good sized blade. I think you will like that buffalo and pearl model, and the price was right! 532's were introduced at the same time (late 1980's, I believe) as the slightly larger 531 and initially as a sawby model as was the 531, although the 532 sawby never made it into production. Apparently only five 532 sawbies exist (I know where three are located; wish one was mine.) After changing to the non-sawby (i.e. lockback) model, 532's were produced for several years in the early 1990's. After that, they seem to be found only as special runs or limited editions. I am told that the 532 is Chuck Buck's favorite knife and perhaps that explains why it is still around. It's one of my favorite models as well. You can read some history of this model along with production runs on the BCCI website.

Tin Sue, Thank you very much for the info. I looks like it will fit my needs for an EDC. I think with bolsters only on one end, it will reduce the weight and feel better to EDC. I may have to find another 532 as I like the blade shape more each time I look at it. It looks as if it will be easy to sharpen the full blade unlike most of my other Bucks, where a small potion of the steel does not get hit (right next to the tang).

Thanks again,
John

...John you're gonna love the 532. It's been probably my favorite Buck ever since I laid my hands on one a buncha years back. I use a 532 as an EDC and it's never failed to bring a smile to my face. I just managed to "snag" another one myself yesterday and I can't wait til it "comes to papa"......LMBO...:p
...Here's the one I carry around almost daily...I love it...:thumbup:...click the thumbnail ...:D

Darrl, thank you for the pic. I always enjoy looking at shinny Bucks. I really like the way this model looks, and I do not know why it has taken me so long to get one.

Thanks again,
John

I really like the looks of the bareheaded knives as well; however, the end of the handle scales are exposed, and, depending on the type of material, are subject to chipping and other types of damage.

...I'll have to say that personally I don't care for any of the "bareheaded" knives that Buck has come out with. It's the one thing that stopped me from picking up one of the 532's, like John just got, when Larry had a bunch for sale...Just not my "cup o' cajun"...LOL...:p:D:eek:

Yep, everyone's taste is different; that's why we have fords and chevys, or maybe Bucks and Cases!! ;)

...Can you even imagine how boring things would be if everyone liked the same stuff???:barf:
...( I'm a MaryAnn kina guy myself...:p )

Guys, let me tell you: I think I have fallen in love with my new 532. It is thin, light, and feels sturdy. The knife is so nice I do not want to EDC, but it is so nice that it begs to be EDCed. This Buck Fever sure spreads pretty fast and hits hard.

As far as the butt of the scales being exposed, I do not think that it will be much trouble. This will not be one that I carry when I am working.

Thanks,
John

I gotta admit that your 532 is one of the most classy knives that I have seen. Thanks for posting that pic, Darryl, now I want a 532! But, I only collect 110's...I think. :)

There is always room for another Buck.

I try not to limit myself to just one model because there are so many great Bucks out there.

...It's a great user A.P.F. It just falls into your hand and huddles there like it was made especially for the owner. Even after they went out of regular production all the folks who owned 'em just wouldn't let them die out altogether. There even used to be a Super Secret, classified, underground, covert, unspoken, mythical, imaginary, paranormal Buck 532 owner's club around here somewhere...Just a rumor mind you...:eek::D

FYI:
at Atlanta,
Chuck Buck was speaking and fielded a question by Bucksway:
"what knife do you carry for every day use ?"
Chuck reached in to his pocket and pulled out a 532 and said
"i like the 532, it is one of my favrite knives"
hummm worth knowing ...

Dave, Thanks for that bit of info.

Maybe one of these days I can make it to a show. I know my wallet will not be very happy, but I would :D.
