I just noticed that two Buck 535's I have from the same production year have different secondary blade grinds and possibly different handle wood. Anyone know what the story is on this? Why/when they changed the grind style? What handle wood was used? The knife with the odd grind looks like laminated wood. The sheaths are also slightly different with the standard sheath being marked 531/535.

I dont know but figgered I'd chime in to say Knice nives whatever the story:thumbup:

The top knife has bias cut inlays and the bottom knife has parallel cut inlays. The top knife is newer. The bottom knife is the design from right after the switch from the Sawby lock and might contain reminants of the Sawby design but not Sawby parts. The Sawby parts are unique to that lock style.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Every other 535 I've seen had the biased cut impregnated birch.

Were both of those sheath styles used with the 535?
