Buck 55 - handle thickness?

Title 'bout says it all ... considering a Buck 55 as a gift for a friend, would like to know how thick the standard model is through the handles.

You asked about the "standard" model of the 55. I'm not too up on all the variations of the Buck line.
Hopefully you are asking about the one at the bottom of the picture in this post and this helps.

11/32" thick (outside scale to outside scale)...

That 55 is a great little knife. Stays here right on my desk once I got it back from my wife who had "borrowed" it ;)

LOL! I've learned that it says a lot about a knife when the women-folk try to appropriate them for their own. :)

Interesting to read this this week, as I just ordered a 110 for myself (just to have one) and a 55 for my wife as I'm trying to get her more interested in knives. It'll be a belated b'day gift when we return home from our camp next week. I've been 'collecting' for only a few years but have carried a multitool, and either a small fixed blade or a folder, together for years. All of a sudden I got a bit of Buck fever and had to have rosewood Kalinga Pros (fixed and folder) and the NRA Special Edition KP also. Then she started wondering if I was becoming a bit 'strange'. Got her attention when I turned a KaBar 1276 short heavy bowie (12") into a chef's knife by grinding off the choil lug so the entire blade could strike the cutting board. Now she uses it too! Knives are slowly becoming a 'habit'. That's a good thing! ;-) Hope she appreciates the 55. Should be just her size. Maybe Buckaholic should get the wife her own!! ;-) LOL........
