I was happy to see two knives arrive today in my mail. One was a GEC Tidioute #12 Toothpick, and the other a Buck 55. Though my initial impression of the GEC is good (will inspect it better when I get home from work)... the Buck is already a disappointment. I have read lately that Buck knives have been having some qc issues in the blade installation department... them leaving the factory with wobbly blades. I had read that here, so it was the first thing I checked.... wobbly it is :-( I could send it back to the online dealer.... I could send it to Buck... But I will do neither. It is not so wobbly that it is unsafe.. but it would bug me. I could fix it myself... but won't bother. I will likely gift it to someone in the near future... to someone that is not as ocd as me, and that the slight movement in blade will not matter to them. I did check out some of these knives at a local store this past weekend, and found they too had some minor, but noticable, issues. Maybe my Buck buying days are over. I have their 119 Special, their 110 folder, and their 112 folder. Wanted a mini me of those two other folders, and the 55 was likely all I planned for a while from Buck, but will just not bother with any more. Oh well, will move on to inspecting and sharing my new GEC findings later when I get home :-)

If you are a knife user, and not just a collector, you desperately require a Buck 301 and a Buck 303. Trust me.

Sorry to hear of you experience with your Buck 55. I just bought this Buck 500 Duke and another just like it and both of them are tighter than a drum with great fit and finish.

Don't believe everything you have apparently heard about Buck going down the tubes. It's just the opposite. They put out great products. Heck, all manufactures put out a lemon here and there - GEC included.

Rather than pass your problem child (the 55) down to some unsuspecting guy or gal, tighten it up just a smidge and carry it and enjoy it.

Sorry to hear that, the 55 I received is tight and a solid little knife. Buck will make it right for you if you mail it to them, it's worth it to get the knife the way you want it and will use it. Best wishes bro.
