What's everyone's opinion on this little knife? I'm thinking of getting one. I like the small size and the simplicity. I have a spyderco delica 4 and it's kinda too big for me. Does anyone have a picture of the Buck 55 next to a delica for size comparison?

Pardon the poor picture, the flash went off unexpectedly.

I love the 55 and this size knife in general, but I prefer the drop point 503 a bit more.

My 55 is a first production from 2005 with the Idaho stamp. The 503 is a bit older with micarta and 440c.

Great knives.

I was thinking of getting myself a 55, the 110 is just a little too big and heavy for my usual EDC requirements however, having seen your 503, I think I might have to find one of those.

The 503 Prince is similar to the 55, as shown, but has nickel silver bolsters - and a different blade profile (drop point vs clip). Another slightly larger - 3" blade vs the 110's 3.75" and the 503's 2.50" and the 55's 2.375" blade; also, .120" thick vs .084" for the 55 & 503 is the clip pointed 112 Ranger. The 112 - with finger grooves - is a nice pocket knife - ~3/4 the size/weight of a 110. It comes with a sheath, too.

The 55 was I think my very first knife from my uncle I think. I like it a lot, whatever you think of the 110 pretty much applies.

Hey thanks for the picture psychopomp. Does this knife have any blade play?

Mine doesn't (neither does my 503 and it's at least 30 years old). None of my many Bucks have any blade play. If anything, the 55 is a little stiff to open, but I really bought it as a collection piece so it hasn't seen much use other than opening the mail so it would certainly get smoother with use.

It's a great little knife.
