I asked this once before and no one had an answer so here it is again. What is the RC of the Titanium handle on the 560 knives?

I notice Larry Oden is browsing right now, been a while, hope all is well, excellent service on Buck products from Larry for anyone interested.

Next question, I'm going to try and install a dual thumb stud on one of my 110's, will a normal quality drill bit do the job? If not what is reccommended?

Make today a good one!

I think you are gonna need a tungsten carbide bit for that. Good luck! Let us know how it works out for you.

Tom,
You did ask that before and I never did get that one done, sorry. I think i got as far as finding a 560 side. I will get this info for you this week.
I don't know if you will be able to drill that 110 blade very easy. It is about 58 rockwell. Maybe someone will have an idea of how to do it.

I might suggest using a one-armed bandit instead of drilling through the blade - the small version of the one-armed-bandit is pretty much symetrical so you can use it from both sides (one side is a bit easier on the finger - so put it on in the way you will use it most) - I put one on my 560/wBG42 and its just insanely great !

Thanks Joe for making that 560 w/BG42 happen !

Klaus

BTW - There are pics of that 560 BG42 One-armed-bandit combo around in the forum posted by Buzzbait - great pics of a great knife

I have used the One arm bandits in the past, I just have an itch to play with my 560. It does have the BG42 blade also (Thanks Joe Houser). After I install the thumb stud I was thinking about micarta, a friend found some micarta that looks like snake skin, really neat.
Anyway, thats the plan.

Alright Joe,

I'm starting to feel a little left out. How do I get one of these 560/BG-42 knives. Oh, and I still haven't seen the BCC email. What did I do? Why are you mad at me? I'm a great guy, really. :D

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
We've all heard the stories about you and you can't play with us! :p
But seriously, you can email me anytime. Is that what you meant by BCC email?
I did find out that the 560 side is 80 on the "B" scale. It was a fairly tricky part to rockwell. According to the conversion chart i was shown, it is way under 20 on the "C" scale.
I also asked about drilling that hole in the blade. THey said make sure you buy several carbide tipped drill bits and bring the part to the drill, not the drill to the part. Of course they said all bets are off if it is BG-42.
Hope this helps.
