Anyone know the production dates for the 560, or is it still being made? Also, are there any variations or were all 560's pretty much the same? Thanks in advance.

Tvran, The 560's were mfg. from 1989-2001 with some variations in the Ti handle colors . In order, silver/gray, then same color only thinner and rounded edges, black, crystal, silver & blue and last more rainbow . I believe there are other colors out there .
The predecessor to this model was the 186 and it ran from 1987-88 . So, no their not being made . If you have one feel lucky . DM

Thanks for the great info. One of the pics shows two of the black versions...is there a difference in the black versions?

Did all of the 1989 knives have the handles like the 186? That is, a gray powder coated look around the edges and in the depressions with the rest having a brushed stainless appearance?

All the gray 560s, regardless of production year, have media blasted scales with brushed faces.

This one has a different appearance than other gray ones I've had and seen in the past. It has a distinctive two-tone finish and beveled edges.

I know i saw a thread recently indicating why that is-it is a re-use of other stock where the original was all black oxide/powder cote and was then refinished except inside the holes i believe. I'll see if I can find it.

I recently saw a 186 with the exact same finish. This would make sense as this one was made right after the 186's were done and the 560 series was starting.

I searcjed for the thread I think I'm talking about but couldnt find it. Boy I happended upon alot of other really good and informative threads along the way. Love the Gold enhancements:thumbup:
