Hi Guys
what can anyone tell me about these knives. And yes i have used the search function, not much info there. :)
Phil

is a titanium handled version of the 110 Hunter. The knife is out of production but there were a bunch of them made. You sometimes see them with black anodized finish. It is also common to see one that has been assembled with a regular 110 stamped blade.

Hi there
Ok, well I picked one up at a local gunshop, had to try 3 before i found one with no blade play(when open). Was this model considered good, bad or indifferent???
Phil

It definatly has a following. I have one of the models with the 'Crystalized' handle. Doesnt do much for me. It's too stiff. But looks good with the rest of my small collection.

I bought a black coated one from a local knife store and was happy with it. (Last one they had). Then I bought one of the crystal finish ones on Ebay and was not at all happy with it. Besides looking bad and feeling bad (hate the finish!), the action was very gritty and there was a bunch of blade play. It was one of the recently made ones with the 110 stamped blade. I would recommend getting only a polished Ti version or a black coated version.

Hi Guys
just checked, the blade is marked 560n, the other knives I handled were in a different belt pouch. Mine has BUCK in red stitching, the others had a different logo. There was some mention, in the searched threads, ofblade upgrades. Is this still possible or do I need to wait until everything has settled down????
Phil :)

PS note my location

I think there are a bunch of us waiting impatiently :D to send in knives for upgrade blades.

I think they need to go ahead and make up a batch of 110 type S30V blades.

Have seen some post with a 560 showing a BG42 blade. And one of mine does have the 110 stamped blade.

If you have a chance to buy another of these, look for the sheath that has the black snap with Buck written horizontally above it. That sheath can be carried vertically or horizontaly on a belt.

Hi Guys
was surfing the 'Bay looking for another 560 and found one that seemed to be put together with capscrews of some sort. Is this another variant or is someone yanking the old chain???
Phil

Phil,
There is a post here somewhere talking about the 186. It is the earlier version of the 560. One of the pieces you see in that ebay post is actully a clip. Buck apparently had a lot of returns on this version and went to the riveted ones (560) that most of us have.
Thats the 186 you saw.

I find it very interesting that it went for $142.50 and a while later a Buck Mayo TNT closed without a bid.

I have a Buck 186, bought it in '87 or '88 I think. These knives can be completely taken apart with the supplied allen wrench. Buck received quite a lot of 186's back for reassembly... That and the fact Buck wasn't happy with people reassembling a sharp knife blade caused the 560 to happen. The 186 with its clip is bulky to carry around. I carry mine (with clip) in a left over black leather 110 sheath. It's a tight squeeze and looks hard on the sheath.

A drop on a steel beam caused the tip of my 186 blade to bend, which broke off when I tried to straighten it... Lived with a tip-less blade for years but wanting to restore it to its former glory I was able to order a replacement blade. I now have a 186 with a 560 blade, truly a unique knife. Collectors will be puzzled... :D

Joe Houser was able to supply me with new hex-screws for it, since the screws have an oddball thead pitch that I could not find locally.

A quick pic, sorry for the lousy quality.

Thanks for the pictures. I have always liked the old 186! It was such a cool idea and only lasted for a short while. Thats one recipe for a collectors piece!
