I have a vintage Buck 560V Titanium that I've had since I was a teen (I'm 65 now). I've never really carried of used it, however I've become a bit of a collector in the last couple of years so I am cataloging everything in a spreadsheet. I got to wondering if anyone can tell me what the "V" stands for. AI returned an answer of "Viper" for that knife, but it doesn't explain the significance of it.

I was going to post a photo but that's above my pay grade I guess.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Bladeforums.

The V is a date code stamp. It indicates the knife was made in 1989. The date code stamp typically appears after the model number.

This is a good reminder that we can sometimes be mistaken about when we acquired things.
true. he wasn't far off though. 29yo to later teens is only 10 years. not bad memory for 3.6 decades of time passing by......

Yeah it's not like that multigenerational antiqu that it turns out was actually a souvenir your grandfather bought on vacation 30 years ago.
I always feel terrible for them that they got fibbed to and its not some hard fought war trophy they were told it was.......
