Buck 620 sheath question.

Here is the sheath that came with a Buck 620 Campmate (Kraton handled 120 General).
The liner was cut from 2 shorter pieces causing the sheath to be a bit floppy in the center. All my other liners for other models with this type of sheath are one piece. Question to any of you who have this sheath, were all the longer 120 size liners cut from two pieces or did I just get lucky and they ran out of longer liners the day mine was made?

Mine was in two pieces and I thought it broke so I put super glue on the 2 pieces and wrapped it in duct tape. After allowing sufficient time for drying I put it back in and no more floppiness.

It wasn't broken, the two ends were roughly cut and mismatched. I cleaned the ends up a bit for a better match.

I was just thinking the same thing.....Joe might just mail you a replacement.

He sometimes has stuff laying around.

:)

Uhh... this was a 1988 knife....I don't think it would be reasonable to ask Buck.
If you've ever seen the sheaths that came with the Kraton knives they are cheaper looking than most Buck sheaths. The first knife I ever bought with one I almost threw it away thinking it wasn't a Buck sheath. There are no markings on the sheath or snap.

All of the 620 sheaths I've seen were made like that. Not especially impressive by any means. Unfortunately, I dont have a fix for that.

Will a sheath from a regular 120 fit the 620??

:)

BG, not always. My 620 has a 120 sheath and that fits perfect.
But the sheath from my 120 is too tight for the 620.
You've to try it out. May do well.

Best, Haebbie

Are we saying that the flapover 120 sheath is too tight for a 620 due to the larger rubber handle, but the Snoopy sheath will fit?

Not all of the snoopys. It is borderline, just as written above.
I didn't try a flap over.

Ah, thanks Haeb.

I'm thinking a flapover should work.

We'll mark the Snoopies as maybe.

:)

I havent tried a flap over but I do know that its a very easy fix to stretch a snoopy sheath to fit the 620 handle.
Wrap a 120 handle with paper towels.
Place the 120 in the leather sheath and snap shut.
Pour water on the paper towels.
Jam pens between the 120 handle and the leather until it is tight.
After water dries, remove 120 and see if 620 fits.
If it doesnt, repeat the process and add a pen or two.

Only drawback is that sometimes the leather will get a little wrinkly, but not always.
I hope this helps.

I don't have a 620, but a 619 handle does fit a 120 flapover sheath just fine.

Such good knife just cries out for a better quality sheath than that cheap nylon pouch they originally stuck it in.

Thanks for all the responses gang......but would someone please tell me..... what's a "SNOOPY" sheath?
I guess I haven't been hanging around here long enough to have caught on to all the jargon.

That's the new style......when you open it up and kind of flatten it out--it looks like Snoopy.
