Buck 632 Mesa scale burrs

After picking my Mesa up at Wally I could see a sliver of light between the tang and the scale on one side. I removed the scales to find burrs around the screw holes. I scraped them off sorta countersinking the holes and sanded around the holes with emory paper. That took care of it... no light. The pic was taken before the operation. It looks wider than it actually was because of glare from the flashlight behind it. If anyone else has the problem it is fixable.

I had the exact same thing going on with mine and commented on it in an earlier thread. I actually was able to rock the scales back and forth on the extra material, which acted as pivot points. Like you I took the scales off and cleaned everything up which enabled the scales to sit flush, like they should have to begin with. It is a bummer the end user has to correct the fit issues, however I like the knife and the sheath keeps growing on me. Good luck with yours.
 
Mine was perfect. I'm glad you were able to fix this on your own. :thumbup:

I contacted Buck about the problem before I fixed it. I sent the above pic to a guy named Jeff. After I fixed it I sent him an email telling him of the solution. He replied he would "tell the guys in the back" about it. It seems Buck does have much experience with exposed full tang scales.
 
That is great that you were able to interact with Buck and they are addressing this minor issue. I am really impressed with this little knife and it sees a lot of use around the home and property.
