How many models are there in the 700 series? I have the 703,704,705 and 709. Are there any more that I should look for?

...I think you have 1 (one ) more to find...the 701 Bronco...I think it's the biggest of the bunch...It's almost 4 inches long with a clip, spey and sheepsfoot blade. I only have a couple of 704's and they are super nice knives IMO...

I'll look for a 701 or if anyone would like to sell one, I'd be interested in that too.
It sounds like a larger version of the 703. Some knife companies codes are easy to figure out, but Buck doesn't seem to follow any specific pattern. I have a bunch in the 500 Series that don't seem to have much of a common theme. I'm still a rookie here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The numbering of the 700s follows the sequence of the 300s for the most part. If you compare the 701 to the 301 and the 703 to the 303, 705 to 305, 709 to 309 the relationship is obvious. The 701 is a 301 Stockman seven hundresized. It’s a beautiful theory until you consider the 704. There is no 304. There is no knife like the 704 in the 300 line. Personally, I think they did that just to keep us on our toes.

...LMBO...:D...Will it has been noted, (in various circles...:p), that quite a few design modifications and total knife designs were done immediately following a number of "after work libations" for any number of holiday or other celebrations

Popcorn, The 500 series follows the same pattern of odd numbered models. ie. 500,501,503,505 and 507 (Duke, Squire,Prince,Knight and Ultima). Except like the odd ball 704 they also threw in a odd one here, the 506 (rare) w/ an even number. So, the odd numbers are the norm and the even is odd. HA-HA...DM

2TonyB brings up a interesting situation. In the 300 series I use to look for upside down knife and bolt shields as odd balls. But have had several normal ones pop off over time (and you see them on the bay all the time). I just superglued mine back on. It's too easy to fake this an call it rare so I decided that it was not something odd to watch for as a collector. Just my opinion. Now if they were riveted on it would be another matter.......300Bucks

All the ones with up side down shields I have seen have been in those display tins with the reminiscent lithographs on them. The 703 I got out of a tin had the shield glued on up side down. I thought it looked odd so I popped it off and glued it back on the right way round. Since then I have noticed that if it came in a tin and is a 700 the shield is on up side down. Odd eh?

And you want to be on the look out for the 700 series in brass. We did these in 1987-88 and there were not too many of them. 701br, 703br, ect...
