I'm googling for a jigged buffalo Buck 103 and I stumble on the age old and well known fake/counterfeit buck 768 (the very first knife shown on this forum's sticky thread above http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...it-Fake-Bucks-amp-The-Americans-Who-Sell-Them http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Bucks-amp-The-Americans-Who-Sell-Them/page10) is reviewed by several on the huge site who's name is taken from the gigantic South American river whose name starts with amazo. If you care to comment on these fakes and the Americans who sell them and those that review them have at it. Simply key word search, buck 768, on the site and post your comments on the reviews.

Personally, I've cancelled my Prime account in disgust. Is there nothing sacred? Why attack this great American company and its brand?

As a Buck collector the whole issue of counterfits bugs me. Regardless of our personal feelings on the whole counterfit issue surrounding our favorite knife, it is not up to us to lead the charge. Taking on the issue of countefits is up to Buck Knives, Inc. and it seems to me that Buck is remarkebly silent on the issue.

We disagree. If I come upon a fire I will stomp on it myself regardless of whose job it should be.

Its all iterms even BUCK currently un-available? Is that what your talking about S.A. ? or sandulvlad80?
They photos that I have seen, remind me of the old style Paki knives that look like Buck 110's.....as they say boy's & girl's.... Just as you catch up to the RAT RACE along comes a faster RAT! there out everywhere.....

I am not sure why you would post the policy of a tangential vendor when the target is the South American river?

OK, I'll edit my post.... happy? :)

I just checked some of the listings on the site in question.
The fake is from the "marketplace" ... not direct . It probably can be reported because I really don't think they would condone vendors selling fakes.

There are several fakes shown. All have been reported. I've been told that they are being investigated. However, I cannot tell if a human on their end has been involved.

My focus is the reviewers who do not mention that the items are fakes/counterfeits. The sin of omission. I've commented in each review.

I wonder if they knew they were fakes when they bought them? Did Buck ever make a model 768 or are these fake Vanguards?

Unfortunately , there's certain brands of knives I will only buy through AD's and Buck is one of them.

1st if they are from CHINA good luck with that one....it will never happen, I hate to tell you this its probably up to BUCK lawyers & even if they could get a like cease and disist order or what ever as soon as they shut down one maker or distributor will pop up! like weasels and just move to another location/provence and set up shop. The Chinese Gov won't do a thing about it. You got major CORPS on the stock exchange who can't get judgements or even copyright infringement enforced even though the judgment goes in their favor. Some successes with Technology Pirating has been somewhat been fruitful. But don't hold your breath on this one about Knock Offs.....I think this has to be a grassroot campaign to put pressure on the [sellers] U.S does not have the Testicular Fortitude to hammer on China. They eat & even own our lunch box......

Those with specialized knowledge, the history of Buck models, are expected to speak out. Those keeping silent are thought to be at fault IMHO.

They are similar to the Vanguard models in appearance. Use of the work Buck and the fact that they are neither authorized by nor made by Buck Knives, Inc. makes them fake/counterfeit.

There is no authentic Buck model 768. There is a long rich history of this fake/counterfeit 768 going back many years on this forum.

I doubt than anyone here would disagree with you my friend. Offshore vendors are beyond our reach.

The focus here, because we can do something and have done something to aid this problem, is on American vendors and the vendor in this instance is indeed American.

Nicely done Chris. Accurate, concise and not cruel. Thank you kindly for your shoulder to the wheel.

Yeah, I've seen random knives on the auction site with "Buck" printed on them. I have no use for them... heck you can buy a real Vanguard for $50.00

I was at a flea market a few months ago and a dealer was selling some folders with real company logos. They were not copies of any specific model, just the logos.
Some were looking them over , I could tell they had no idea what they were looking at, and that they were fakes. Too bad....

Oregon I'm glad I mostly buy 99% of the time from the 60's up to 1980 era 110's an 112's mostly and some others, I don't really have to do deal with fakes.....

You an most here have a VAST KNOWLEDGE of the fakes on the main products & models from BUCK they would get by me no problem, especially on the vast array of models & products Buck produces.
PlumberDv's photos even I can tell those are not BUCK knives.....LOL

You guys need to be like the KNIGHT TEMPLARS to enforce or push back on these frauds an sellers. The legal system will not work, it would be like swatting mosquitos.....

* The end of my last paragraph: "I think this has to be a [grassroot] campaign"

*added: to put pressure on the [sellers] and online Host to these weasels.

No problem!
I also added a 1 star review to every listing I could find.... maybe some people will see them and not be fooled.

when I searched it this all I could come up with? Its all iterms even BUCK "currently un-available" Is that what your talking about S.A. ? or sandulvlad80?

It was like a dead link not reviewable, I must be doing the wrong search.....though were 50 items in that "currently un-avialable" catergory. Under the search. Like they were removed!

They are just gearing up to sell the dang things..... most of those sellers are just launched.....
They are pulling the same nonsense as on the "bay"..... except for much higher prices....
I saw one listing for about $80

There are at least two vendors active with stock. Key word search "buck 768" and get several live vendors on two pages.

Two reviewers have contacted me and neither gives a hoot that they are participating in the theft of the intellectual property of a great American company. The shame.

Here is one:
A fellow customer answered your question, "Knife is a fake/counterfeit. It is not made by and it is not authorized by Buck Knives, Inc. Why haven't you mentioned this in your review?" about BUCK 768 Hunting Fixed Camping Survival Knife....
Butts answered:
"frankly didn't care one way or another and I'm not a spokesperson or saleman for any company. As I said it isn't a bad knife for the money and it's not. If you are so hung up on a brand name perhaps you should be buying directly from the company and not on a wb site."

And there people is the whole problem with society today.........No accountability, and no one fesses up to their wrong doing [intentionally] or not, and who cares mentality....or instead point the finger in this case the victim's the Maker & Buyer. Instead point out the buyer is stupid....Its a learned BEHAVIOR we see our Presidents an Politicians do it all the time. Its called self preservation!

I have lived by this statement: Let the Buyer Beware! & "Buyers are Liars" and unfortunetly this is the juxtoposition you need to have & take when buying or selling with "little white lies"
Most people are honest and wanted to be treated the same way they want to treat you.....but THEN theres those others.
