I love my 889, it gets it's fair share of use in my EDC rotation and has never let me down. The fit, feel and function of this knife has been far greater than it's budget price tag would suggest.

My question is this...

Lately I've noticed the thumb studs/blade stops have started to get a little loose. They spin freely and have a slight bit of wiggle. As far as I can tell they are just press fit and peened in place. Is this a regular occurrence and nothing to worry about or will it continue to get worse?

Thanks.

The thumb studs are also the stop pins, so if they are loose the lock up will become affected sooner or later. I don't think it's very common (you are the first to mention it as far as I know) but I think it is something that should be addressed, your fingers might thank you later. With the right punch a little care you should be able to tighten it up yourself, but it might be better to send it to Buck for repair.

Bluesky is right, that pin is too important to ignore. I recomend that you send it in to us to repair. If you do, send it to my attention and I will get it taken care of quicker. I also want to see that problem and show it to QA.
YOu can get our address on our website.
