My local gun shop still has a limited Buck Bowie knife with mirror polished blade, apple coral handles and Mokume guard. It’s $300.

My question is. Would y’all buy it. Would y’all use it or just hang it in the wall. I think I would use this. The price wouldn’t bother me because it’s on clearance. The guy said it’s been for sale since 2007 and no has bought it. Brand new. Old stock. A new basic model is about $250 from Buck. If I get it, I would like like to use it a camp/outdoor knife. Handle is small, but felt comfortable for me. What do y’all think?

I think Buck makes several other knives, that would make better camp knives. and cost less money. 104, 108, 124, come to mind, but there are others. And if you are going to use a 916 bowie as a camp knife, you would be better off buy a new basic model from buck. It would be less money, and you wouldn't be scaring up expensive options, that don't do anything to make the knife work better.

O.B.

Thanks for the response, but price is not a problem. I was just simply asking if one would use it as an actual knife or just a trophy. It is a knife after all. I can get a time tested Mora from Amazon for $20 if I was concerned about a camp knife. It’s a very ornate knife for the price of an average quality American made knife these days. I don’t think I would have a problem hacking away with it, but I just wanted opinions. Your opinion is much welcome.

916 handles are too small for a good user. I'd only buy that as a collector and put in the collection. far better knives from Buck for users.
Thanks for the response. I tried it today, and it felt really good on the hands. I think most people talking about handle ratio, are people who haven’t put one in their hands. You’re opinion and reply are appreciated!

Mm mom had a saying for nice things..she would say “just for pretty.” I wouldn’t use it, just put it up above the fire place. 👍 Maybe put an old musket or shot gun beside it.

I’m going to be honest it’s just not my cup of tea. I’m probably the odd ball but I just don’t like the lines of it.

actually in this Buck forum....... most folks talkin bout the tiny thin and short handle here own a 916 or even a couple of the 916s, including me. I even have little girl sized hands and the handle is too small to be a good user, but good luck.
